PHYSICAL THERAPY

Practice Human proudly accepts Medicare and provides superbills for reimbursement from out of network insurance plans. All of our PT visits are one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
MOVEMENT COACHING
Movement coaching is appropriate if you are:
- Just finishing a physical therapy plan of care and wanting to progress safely into more robust activity
- Apprehensive about jumping straight into a gym routine by yourself or working out with just any personal trainer
- Looking for an experienced coach for acquiring new skills, building strength, and learning how to train yourself for life
- Seeking a supportive small group environment for exercise and social engagement
One-on-one Movement Coaching (in-person or online)
- In-person and online with a Doctor of Physical Therapy
- We also host a number of experienced coaches, trainers, and movement teachers right here in our studio who are ready to build an individualized program for you
IN-PERSON SMALL GROUP STRENGTH CLASSES
Practice Human offers three in-person class formats. All class series focus on strength and power development, with some coordination, agility, and dynamic balance training.
1. Durability for Life
Practice Human's signature small group strength course is for older adults who want to feel more confident and capable in daily life and with more demanding physical activity.
Appropriate if you have osteopenia, osteoporosis, knee and hip arthritis, post-menopausal related joint pain, tendinopathy, or persistent low back pain.
For those who are new to lifting weights and patients completing a physical therapy plan of care who will benefit from individualized feedback and guidance from a physical therapist for a safe transition into more robust exercise.
- Designed for ages 65+
- Taught by Doctors of Physical Therapy
- Only 5 participants per class
- Classes run in a 6 or 8-week series
2. Weight Lifting for Bone Density
Designed for active New Yorkers who've been engaged in bodyweight modalities like walking, yoga, and Pilates for years to decades.
Learn the fundamentals of weight training, including programming, rationale, and equipment options for building muscle and bone. Our small group environment provides individualized support and feedback from veteran yoga teachers, teacher trainers, and dancers, turned strength coaches and physical therapists.
- All ages, genders, and levels of experience are welcome
- Most participants are women ages 40-65
- Only 6 participants per class
- Classes run in a 6 or 8-week series
3. Kettlebell Strength & Power
Learn more about these versatile tools for improving strength, power, mobility, coordination, and metabolic conditioning.
Some experience with weight training is required. Learn and fine tune skills specific to working with kettlebells for strength and power development.

- Classes run in a 6 or 8-week series
ONLINE SMALL GROUP COACHING
The Slow Cooker is a comprehensive 15-week online small group strength & aerobic conditioning program designed for women ages 40+
Appropriate if you are perimenopausal or postmenopausal, training with knee or hip arthritis, have osteopenia or osteoporosis, or working with persistent pain. Led by physical therapist and strength & conditioning coach Caitlin Casella.
Sustainable, impactful exercise strategies you can use for a lifetime of healthy aging, durability, and generally feeling like a badass.
The Slow Cooker
Receive progressive weekly programming for strength and aerobic (cardio) conditioning. Fine-tune your workouts with individualized feedback on twice-weekly live Zooms. Build a habit of independent gym workouts for general health, longevity, and sustainability of robust exercise.
