CAITLIN CASELLA: (Re)Learn How to JUMP! Intro to Impact Loading — ONLINE

September 18, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Since I turned 40, I’ve been on a mission to improve my tolerance for impact exercise, speed, tissue elasticity, and coordination with power moves.

I used to jump a lot as a kid. Gymnastics, dance classes, kickboxing, a badass choreographed jump rope group in an after school program. Even in my angsty teen years, my vertical ankle jump at a 90s rock show was pretty impressive.

I attended a concert a while back—saw the best 80s cover band around. And when one of the singers came out dressed as David Lee Roth, you bet your ass I did… JUMP!

The human body is amazingly adaptable. Adaptation goes both ways, toward improvement or decline. Biologically speaking, it’s use it or lose it. So at age 40, when I noticed my capacity slipping away, I decided to use it.

My goals are entirely based on feel. I’m not training to run long distances or win any sprint races.

I went into this wanting to FEEL more springy and lively. AND I DO!

My wish is for you to feel this way too. Don’t fret, we’ll start at the very beginning. We won’t be jumping the whole time. It will challenge your strength, cardiorespiratory endurance, balance, and coordination.

It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump away! See you there,

Caitlin

(Re)Learn How to JUMP is for you if…

— You want to introduce more energizing, heart pumping, fast intervals to your home movement sessions or gym strength workouts but don’t know where to start or how to do it safely.

— You have a goal to begin running or return to running after some time off. This series will help you mitigate risk of overuse injury and help you feel stronger and more efficient on your runs this fall.

— You’re intent on increasing and maintaining lean muscle mass, bone density, and soft tissue elasticity for sustainability of robust activity and decreased risk of injury.

— You want to challenge your body and mind in fun new ways!

FALL 2023 DATES: SEPTEMBER 18 – NOVEMBER 6

— 8 week synchronous online program with an additional year of access to the live class replay videos

— Downloadable programming pdf with exercise video links is yours to keep forever

— 6 live Zoom classes (with replays for 1 year)

LIVE ZOOM CLASSES

— Mondays 5:30-6:30pm EST: September 18, 25, October 9, 16, 30, November 6

Please note:

This series requires steady commitment to ensure that you’re being exposed to gradual, progressive doses of foundational loading before moving on to more intense hopping drills. I’ve spread out the live classes and supplemental “homework” programming over 8 weeks. This will give you a solid foundation of conditioning, and the education you need to continue the work independently for months and years to come.

Recommended equipment:

Almost nothing! Everything in this class series can be done in a small space with bodyweight only. If available, I recommend using weight for a few components. A pair of dumbbells or a kettlebell around 10-20 lbs (6-10 kg) will do nicely. I also suggest you wear sneakers for hopping.

PRICING AND REGISTRATION

One time investment of $240. Lessons you will use for life.

REGISTRATION FOR SEPT 2023 IS NOW CLOSED

LIVE ZOOM CLASS THEMES
Module 1: September 18 and 25

Foundational loading: Building tissue capacity with slow steady strength. No- to low-impact power moves. Balance and coordination drills. Trunk and arm training (yes that’s right, arm training). Light, bouncy stepping drills.

***Live class skips (no pun intended) October 2 ***

Module 2: October 9 and 16

Intro to hopping, beginner plyometrics, and light sprint drills on the spot: We will increase the challenge to your coordination and cardio endurance. I offer plenty of modifications in this section so you can find the sweet spot for feeling challenged and safe in your body.

***Live class skips October 23***

Module 3: October 30 and November 6

Plyometrics with direction changes and sprint drills over ground: We’ll gradually work towards heavier, faster, and more complex movement. Again, with plenty of options to meet you where you are.

REPLAY VIDEOS AND HOMEWORK

Yes! There will be replay videos available if you can’t attend live. Video recordings will become available a few hours after each live class. You will have access to all class replays from this series throughout the live class timeframe and for 1 year after the last live class.

You'll also receive a downloadable pdf with links to exercise videos. This serves to boost your body's adaptation to new forces by incorporating 1-2 short training sessions each week in addition to our live classes together. It will help you integrate and build on the material from class, gain independence with your workouts, and appreciate more benefits over 8 weeks. The pdf is yours to keep forever.
